“What were humans created for?”
One sea urchin posed the question to another.
“Farts.”
“Farts? I don’t understand.”
“Farts are an efficient food source for sea urchins in other galaxies. To supply the farts, the sea urchins needed to invent a creature that farted. They created humans, and then had the humans create other humans via sexual reproduction, to keep supplying more farts. That was why the sex drive was built in.”
“Do the humans know that they were created solely to supply farts?”
“No. On the contrary. The humans believe that their race is very significant. They have romance movies, churches, and so on.”
“The churches are shrines dedicated to sea urchins, right?”
“Not exactly.”
“Why doesn’t someone tell them that they were created solely to supply farts?”
One sea urchin looked at the other and gave a resigned sigh.
“They wouldn’t believe it.”

This brief, fun piece begs so many questions, and we won’t ask any of them. Instead, we’ll leave it up to the reader ponder this clever flash piece. Author Brett Abrahamsen’s piece amused us enough that we decided it had to be shared with the world. And maybe humans who read it won’t be embarrassed by their farts anymore.
